It's already AUGUST!?!?!?!??

What a beautiful day it is today, I hope you all get outside and do something with your fam. Our kids, along with their cousins, are going to their auntie Nay's house for the afternoon for an overniter with 14 other kids! I think she's nuts, but she's been super excited about for weeks. So without kids, us adult siblings are getting together for a nite of dinner, bowling and drinks - should be a great time!

It was a big week at the Deemter home. I am happy to report that our little Natee is FINALLY fully potty-trained! This has been a long time coming, but she just kinda took it upon herself to start doing it. WOOOHOO! No more diapers for this household.

I went back to work last week. It is good to be back. I was so nervous to go back, afraid I wasn't going to remember how to do things, but it just came back like old hat. ;) And I had missed everyone and realized how much I really like my job.

It's been 7 weeks and I'm down 54 lbs! AMAZING. I am so excited and now that I can start exercising, I'm sure the weight will start melting off. Next week I can add vegetables and toast to my food options. I'm still sore at times (especially at nite, when I sleep in a strange position). And I tend to get sick about daily, but that is of my own doing. I NEED to learn to eat slowly - I've always been a fast eater, that is a habit that is hard to break. If I eat too quickly, I fill up before I realize and there is no where for the food to go. At that point, my best bet is to go to the bathroom and "regurgitate". Not fun, but much better than being in pain!

Next week my girlfriend's and I are going to Pentwater for a 4 day, kid-free bonding fest. I CANNOT wait! It should be a great time. Hopefully we'll have good weather.

That's all I can come up with right now. Hope you are all enjoying your summer as much as we are. Hard to believe in a month Carter will be going back to school and starting soccer again. Our lives once again will be hectic and crazy. The one thing that will keep us going is knowing we have a vacation in November ~ DISNEY!

Write more soon.

Lotsa love.

Hi! It's been about a month, I should try to keep up with this a little better!

So, life has been good around here at the Deemter household. We recently returned from a trip to West Virigina. We had a great time with Kent and Annie, Ethan and Luke and Shari and Jason. We spent a week at the Good Evening Ranch in a beautiful cabin. We hung out with exotic animals (lions, tigers, monkeys, kangaroos), swam in the New River, went to a rodeo. It was a blast, a much needed vacation for our family!

It's been a little over a month since my surgery, I've lost about 40 lbs. Crazy! My clothes are fitting looser, I have a little more energy and am feeling pretty good. I have my days that I feel crummy, but that comes with the territory. Next weekend will be a good weekend, I can FINALLY eat some fresh summer fruit! Can't wait for that!

I get to go back to worth on the 24th of this month. I'm ready.

Today I'm sitting home from church with both of the kids. Carter had an adnoidectomy and tubes put in on Friday and still isn't feel 100% (unless his sudden "illness" was a ploy to get out of going to church...?). And poor Natee woke up yesterday morning covered in hives and this morning they were spread to her face. She looks pitiful! I'm trying to nurse her back to health quickly. Tomorrow my girlfriend and I are taking our kids out to Holland SP to camp for the nite (in a tent, no less!) Should be an adventure. Just something to break up the week a little.

We are looking forward to Kurt and Sunae's visit next weekend, before they once again leave the country for another working adventure. The weekend after that we have "Christmas in July" with my step-mom's family. That's always a fun time: riding the quads, playing games, swimming, camping, going in the hottub, fireworks. Then it's Coast Guard, camping at Pentwater with my girlfriends, to Detroit with my girlfriends, Labor day, then school starts again.

WHERE IS THE SUMMER GOING?????

Post again soon (maybe!!) :)

Happy Father's Day to all of the great father's out there. We had a good one, at least I would like to thing so. Daran made his first roast and it smelled WAY good! So he and the kids at roast, mashed potatos and applesauce, while I sipped on my DELICIOUS chicken broth. After a well needed nap, the kids went to Daran's parents and we decided to take a drive. I needed out of the house very badly. We drove down to Algonquin Lake and saw the Kerstetter cottage, very nice place! Then we came back up to Alto and stopped by Curt and Lisa's house and chatted for a while. We came home to a dark neighborhood. The power is still out. And we're wondering how we're gonna sleep w/o a fan!
It was a good day.
Grandma did pass yesterday. She is in Heaven, where we all want to be. God is good. Always.

Happy Flag Day!
I finally decided to start a blog to keep you all informed on what's going on over here in Grandville (especially since my surgery).

It is day 4 after surgery and I'm still in quite a bit of pain if not on my pain medication. It's been a hard day thus far and I don't see it getting any easier. All week my grandmother (Alofs) has been heading downhill quickly and as of this morning "they" are thinking she won't make it through the day. So here we sit and wait...what an awful thing to wait for! Although I know that it will be so much better for her. She has been living with dementia (sp?) for about 5 years now. It has been a downhill battle every since her diagnosis. I just thank our good Lord that He has taken care of her and that she will be rejoined with so many of our other family members that have gone on before her. If I could be so bold as to ask you to pray for my dad (step-dad Gary) as this is surely a difficult time for him and his brother Don. Yes, we have been kind of expecting it for some time, but that still does not make the pain or sadness any less.

As for me, I'm doing okay. I'm healing, slowly but surely. As long as I stay on my meds, I'm okay, although they tend to make me quite sleepy. I've been able to sleep at nite, which is always a good thing. And getting around is getting easier and easier. We're just hoping that within a week I'll be okay to endure a 9 hour car ride to West Va. We're going down with Kent and Annie to meet Shari and Jason for a week at the Good Evening Ranch in Summersville. We've been looking forward to this for a long time.
